Bringing your pet into Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) is possible under specific conditions designed to ensure animal health and public safety. These rules apply to non-commercial movements: meaning pets are accompanying their owners for personal travel and not for sale or transfer of ownership. The requirements vary depending on the country of origin and its classification under EU regulations (Annex IV – Part A, Part B, or countries not listed).
Whether you’re traveling from an EU/EFTA member state, a third country listed in Part B, or an unlisted country, you must follow strict protocols including microchipping, rabies vaccination, proper documentation, and entry through designated points. Exceptions exist for pets marked with tattoos before July 3, 2011, and for those traveling in groups of more than five animals.
