Buses

Sarajevo’s bus system is served by two main providers: Centrotrans and GRAS. Together, they operate dozens of routes connecting the city center with suburbs like Ilidža, Vogošća, Hadžići, and East Sarajevo.

Most buses run daily from around 5:30 AM to 11:00 PM, with central lines like Line 18 (Pofalići – Drvenija) running every 30 minutes during the week. Weekend frequencies can be a bit lower, especially on Sundays. Some routes, like Line 31E, offer extended service from 3:00 AM until nearly 3:00 AM the next day, which is helpful if you’re out late.

Bus tickets in Sarajevo cost 2.20 KM and can be bought on board from the driver (cash only) or from a kiosk near most stops. Tickets must be validated when you board. GRAS and Centrotrans operate separately, so switching between them requires a new ticket. Day passes and multi-ride options are available through GRAS offices for regular commuters.

To navigate the system easily, download the Moovit app. It gives real-time schedules, route suggestions, and walking directions—all in English—making it a great tool for both newcomers and long-term expats.
